Spring 2013-Summer 2013	Continue to inquire about away electives, plan subinternships. Ask advisors, residents, friends about specialty selection and residency programs.
Summer-Fall 2013	All applicants request residency application materials directly from hospitals. Applicants can register with ERAS, a program separate from NRMP.
June 2013	Begin drafting CV. and personal statement. Begin asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
July 2013	Check the MyERAS website Continue working on CV. and personal statement. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
September 2013	September 15th. Applicant registration opens. Inquire about dean's letter appointment with medical school dean's office. Continue working on CV. and personal statement. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue obtaining residency information via residency program websites, requesting information directly from programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
September 2013	Programs start receiving applications Finalize CV. and personal statement. Begin filling out applications via ERAS. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue obtaining residency information via residency program websites, requesting information directly from programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
October 2013	Select residency programs begin inviting applicants for interviews. Make final edits to personal statement. Submit ERAS application if finished. Be aware of application deadlines. Continue asking faculty for letters of recommendation. Continue obtaining residency information via residency program websites, requesting information directly from programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
November 2013	Continue interviewing at residency programs. Submit ERAS application. Make sure letters of recommendation are secure. Check to make sure application materials are complete for each program through ERAS website. Send thank you letters for letters of recommendation writers.
December 2013	Continue interviewing at residency programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
January 2014	Students may consider "second-look" visits to programs they are interested in. Beginning January 15th, Applicants and programs enter their Rank Order Lists Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends.
February 26, 2014	Students continue to take "second-look" visits to select programs. Continue to seek advice from advisors, residents, friends. Rank order list certification deadline Applicants and programs must certify their rank order lists before 9:00 p.m. eastern time. Staff will be available to answer your questions during the final deadline hours. CERTIFIED applicant and program rank order lists and any other information pertinent to the Match must be entered in the R3 System by this date and time.
March 2014	March 17, 2014 Applicant matched and unmatched information posted to the Web site at 12:00 noon eastern time. Filled and unfilled results for individual programs posted to the Web site at 12:00 noon eastern time. Locations of all unfilled positions are released at 12:00 noon eastern time only to participants eligible for the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP). March 18, 2014 Programs with unfilled positions may start entering their Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) preference lists at 11:30 a.m. eastern time. March 19, 2014 Programs with unfilled positions must finalize their first-round Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) preference lists by 11:55 a.m. eastern time. March 21, 2014 Match Day! Match results for applicants are posted to Web site at 1:00 p.m. eastern time. Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) concludes at 5:00 p.m. eastern time. Celebrate!
