Tekken 5 (PS2) Editorial Review: After the completion of The King of Iron First Tournament 4, a fierce battle between father and son unfolded at Mishima Heihachi, his grandfather-but spares both Kazuya and Heihachi`s lives in honor of his mother who loved peace. While many presume the death of Heihachi Mishima will end the reign of Mishima Zaibatsu, an announcement is made for the fifth king of Iron First Tournament, with an unknown replacement to Heihachi leading the organization. The fight begins.
Customer Reviews: ignore trey macartne Ignore the review below. He is obviously not playing it properly. I have played all the soul blade/calibur games, some dead or alive and all tekken. The fighting system of tekken is vastly superior to the other two. Neither has the depth of tekken. If you play it properly you can learn how to block even the most complex of combos. Go back to Tekken 1, learn the basics and work from there, then you'll see how complex and skillfull it is.
Got me blisters, but OH WELL..!! Teenagers you'd love this game! This is one of the most addicting AND Annoying! game ever. The graphics are excellent. the mini movies (between the game) are brilliant as well. The sounds not bad at all. You have to complete the story mode to Unlock a new character which makes it addicting as you would want to see whos the new character gunna be and whats he like (special powers, etc etc.) *BUT* the annoying bit is the last person that you have to beat in Story mode. you could check other reviews from other websites and they would tell you that it hurts their figers and hands cuz of repeatedly pressing buttons (pretty funny). but ITS WORTH IT, (having blisters :> ) so GET IT..!
lasts ages and i just cant get enough WAPP, THUMP, SNAP! as soon as i get bored of one character, i just choose one of the other 35 or so people and then learn their moves to go through the story mode with them. Multiplayer is great too because if who you are playing against is a beginner, they can button bash and still do quite well (my 8 year-old sister even beat me once...) The characters are well thought out, (although 3 of them are useless and they have the lamest moves)and it is great fun to change character every other match so that you get a good variety of gameplay. It may seem the same over and over, but it isnt. This was my first tekken game on a console (except tekken advance on GBA)and the graphics are awesome. This is weirdly replayable for years on end and the moves are extremely satisfying to pull off. GETTTTTTTTTT ITTTTTTTTTT
The Paris Hilton of Videogames. I gave this game a real fair chance. It's the first "Tekken" title I've ever brought - I'm more of a "Soul Calibur" or "Dead or Alive" man myself. I will never, ever purchase another "Tekken" game after this one.
The main issue I have with the game is the lack of skill involved. From what I can gather, Guarding, Blocking and Reversal attacks play a minimum role in the gameplay mechanics. It's all about notching up ridiculously large combo attacks. That might be fine - but there isn't much skill involved in doing that.
On the plus side, the visuals are stunning. Namco must be congratulated for getting such amazing character models out of the PlayStation 2 hardware. This game looks incredible, make no mistake about it. Unfortunatley - that's not enough for me. I need a bit more substance to my fighters.
I will certainly never buy another "Tekken" game again. I found this really irritating. The game is just yet another "Button Basher". No skill required. The end Boss of the Story mode is very badly designed also - he is not skilled, but he can take away 75% of your health with one move. That's not a challenge - it's an irratation.
If you like games that require a bit of skill, steer well clear of this one. "Tekken 5" is a bit like Paris Hilton. Damn nice to look at, but there isn't a whole lot going on beneath the service. Avoid.
its up to u this is a fun game one of the best i have ever played admittedly the end baddie is extremly hard to beat but that just gives u an excuse to keep playin
i got the game the day it came out and i'm still playing it.
customizing your characters is fun it gives u feeling that their yours
if u were a first time buyer of tekken games i would advise u to get tekken3, tekken5' and when it comes out tekken 6
