Love You Forever Editorial Review: The mother sings to her sleeping baby "I'll love you forever, I'll love you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be". She still sings the same song when her baby has turned into a fractious 2-year-old, a slovenly 9-year-old, and then a raucous teen. So far, so ordinary--but this is one persistent lady. When her son grows up and leaves home, she takes to driving across town with a ladder on the car roof, climbing in to her grown son's window, and rocking the sleeping man in the same way. Then, inevitably, the day comes when she's too old and sick to hold him, and the roles are at last reversed. Each stage is illustrated by one of Sheila McGraw's comic and yet poignant pastels. (Ages 4 to 8) --Richard Farr
Customer Reviews: Everyone should have a copy As soon as a child is old enough to understand 'love' this book should be read to them, and it will delight grandmothers as well. I intend buying all my friends a copy for Christmas.
Great book I bought this book after Joey read it on Friends. It is a lovely story and the repitition is great for little ones too!
Most appalling book I've ever read This was given to us as a gift. One night, I sit down to read to my three children for bedtime story....I couldn't finish reading it-because I do NOT want my children to think it is okay to stalk people. to think that this mother in the book is sane and normal. She's NOT. I gave this to our son's psycharatrist (who diagnosed his Aspergers) and she came back later to say the book is awful, that she too agreed (as did her older daughter and a colleague) it's an inappropriate book. I often see 'bad literature' in the children's storybook world - there's loads of it, but THIS book is not just bad, it's creepy. I hear it was misinterpreted from it's native language.
Grab a box of tissues before reading... A friend showed me this book - her mother in law had left it at her house for her husband tpo read! No hidden messages there then...lol
At the time my daughters were young, my hormones were all over the place and I truly could not control my tears from the first page to the last. The inevitable build up just put me into contact with my own mortality and made me enjoy the time I now have with my daughters to the full.
The complete swap in roles comes to us all sooner or later.
Please please read this book!
