Good book
Must have trauma pocket book I am currently working at a busy level 1 trauma center and constantly use this book for major aspects in orthopedic trauma management. The book is summarizes high yield point in adult and pediatric orthopedic traumatology in a concise yet complete manner.
Mediocre Many important topics in this book are presented
not in a cutting edge manner and the stuff can
easily be found in all standard text;
Newest topics in trauma like minimal invasive
surgery, computer aided surgery, new AO thinking
that everyone doing trauma is talking about these days
not covered or grossly inadequate
I have 2 juniors who used to work with one of the authors,
they told me there is a great discrepancy between
what that author claims he would do in his
little text, as compared to his actual practice
in real life. I hope this is not the case, but
if it is, readers will not be pleased
Mediocre work at most
well below expectations This book in many areas are too dogmatic with lack of explanation
Important key topics like new plating systems, ilizarov,
newer EF, CAOS, periprosthetic # have either been not discussed or done too inadequately
May be good only for medical students
